What a day. I remember driving home from Maryland the night of this wedding thinking to myself, “wow, what a day.” I don’t normally have that reaction to a wedding day but this day was different – because it rained – and I don’t just mean that it rained. It was the kind of rain that could flood a small town and send it down river. But in all of it, at the exact moment we needed to be outside to take pictures with Greg, Emily, and their bridal party – the water stopped – just long enough for us to fully appreciate what Swan Harbor Farm had to offer as a beautiful and elegant backdrop to a wedding. Despite all the rain, we had the most perfect venues at the most perfect times to get all the shots we needed at all the right times. Emily was a stunning and graceful bride and it was obvious that Greg was in awe of his beautiful bride the entire day. I couldn’t have done the day without my good buddy, Amanda Kraft second shooting and … how do I put this thoughtfully … dealing with the groomsmen who were by far one of the toughest crowds of groomsmen I’ve yet to run into – I mean that in the nicest way possible haha. Amanda was a perfect fit for them – whatever they dished out, she dished right back. Thanks also to intern Carli for assisting on the day and getting thoroughly soaked helping us carry equipment all day. What a great wedding day in the end and I was so honored to be a part of it. I really enjoy engagement sessions because of the time I spend getting to know my clients at them. With this session, not only did I get to know Myron and Christine a little better, but I got an incredible tour of lower Manhattan at the same time! Intern Carli and I went up to NYC for the afternoon to visit with Myron and Christine and do their e-session around lower Manhattan – I don’t think I’d been there for almost 6 years so it was really fun to visit again. This couple was such a blast to spend time with as they are both so much fun to be around – they love to laugh together and they love conversation which I really appreciate. Myron made for a phenomenal tour guide as we walked around to some sites where they wanted to do some shooting. Thank you both so much for the mini-tour and the delicious NY pizza!  I can’t wait to spend more time with this couple on their wedding day! Here’s some of my favorites from their E-Session.

I haven’t really gotten to travel too much with photography yet – it’s only this year that is starting to change. I was invited down to old town Alexandria, Va where Matt and Erin live for their E-Session and I was elated at the chance to shoot somewhere new. Erin and I went to HS together and it had been a long time since we got to catch up. It’s great to see old friends from my past at this stage in life where they’re filled with so much happiness and joy. I was honored that they chose me to capture their wedding day at the end of June and we had a blast spending some time around Alexandria for this session – here are some of my favorites. Oh, and thanks for the uh-mazing ice cream, you two!

What I love about E-Sessions so much is the time I get to spend getting to know the couples I work with. You really get a deep glimpse into their relationship and their collective personality as a couple. I really loved working with Mike + Anna because this is the kind of couple who are best friends with one another at the core of their relationship. They love to laugh together and simply have fun together and at the root of any healthy relationship this is crucial. It’s exciting and refreshing to capture smiles like these because they’re filled with joy and joy is what gives life to a marriage. Enjoy some of our favorites from this session!

So excited to share Joe and Jess’s wedding with you – this one has been a long time coming! This is probably the biggest blog I’ve ever posted but that probably has to do something with the fact that this was the biggest wedding party I’ve ever worked with – ever. While the day hit a few scheduling snags – everything ended up perfect and we had a blast covering this wedding. Seriously could not have done it without the help of my good friends – Andres Valenzuela (second camera) & Eric Burkert (assist). Without these two dudes along for the ride I don’t think we would’ve covered the day as well as we ended up covering it with all the people, traveling, and logistics.

Loved the fun atmosphere of the day that was only added to by the number of people involved – between living room dance parties and trolley pit stops at the beer distributor – there were plenty of candid moments to capture on this wedding day.
